The latest revision in terms of the well-known, standardized quality measurement system for aerospace, known as AS9100, the latest standard, revision D was due to be released in April of 2014. However, it was not released until October of 2016. Either way, given that numerous changes have been implemented, this obviously leaves others in the space of needing to retrain in order to once again become proficient with this system. Moreover, although those who work with these systems are typically intelligent, fast learners, there is always something to be said for both technical and human error. That said, the following is an overview of AS9100 Revision D as well as why ISO Integration is the go-to for Revision D Certification.
New Details on AS9100 Revision D
Built on a base of the most recent version, ISO 9001:2015, the AS9100 includes an array of alterations. For instance, there are 13 additional shalls in the AS9100 as opposed to the 9001:2015 with 53 and 66 shalls respectively. Moreover, additional sub-clauses have also been added; 8.1.3— “Product safety” and 8.1.4— “Prevention of counterfeit parts.” In addition to that, the “product safety” clause also appears in five other areas of the standard while “Counterfeit parts” appears in up to three additional areas of the standard and the “Human factors” has been added to 10.2— “Nonconformity and corrective actions.”
